The Gathering

// Song //

We love creativity and art (Psalm 96:1). So every week when we gather we sing songs to Jesus (Psalm 30:4). Some are old hymns from centuries ago being remixed and some are new songs written by modern poets.

// Preaching //

Every week we gather to open up Scripture and to have the Word of God change our hearts, minds, and lives. The sermon is always based on Scripture and always about Jesus. He is the hero of the story. You will be challenged and sometimes offended (1 Corinthians 1:18-31), but we must be faithful to Jesus and we have no interest in just telling people what they want to hear so that they feel good (2 Timothy 4:2-4).

// Communion //

We gather together every week to receive forgiveness and to be made whole again. One way in which we do this is through the partaking of communion as a community of Christians. We believe that communion is only meant to be taken by repentant Christians and ask that those who are not Christians to respect our beliefs and the sacredness of the moment. Communion is a meal in which Jesus forgives the sins of the Christian, strengthens their faith, and the Christian humbly remembers the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross (1 Corinthians 11:17-32).

// Meditation and Prayer //

Church is not an individual journey. We are not meant to follow Jesus on our own. Therefore every week that we gather we have a time where people are able to participate in guided meditation and reflection and have people pray with and for them about anything. Some people meditate on their own, while others go off in small groups to pray for each other and talk about life. The idea is not to follow a specific set of rules but to be honest and authentically participate in community.
